A Common Name

Happy to share a little trove or two of treasure... The Nooks and crannies! are installed in unlikely places that one may discover only if one allows the eyes to wander off the path. Wish I could have had this stumbling occur onsite rather than the internet.

Faculty Exhibit

Tonight (6 to 9pm) is the opening reception for the faculty exhibit at the Mainline Art Center. The show runs from today through October 8th, 2012.

Start seeds! Order beekeeping equipment. Store winter coats. Stop sighing. Start smiling.

Relief

After so many weeks of hearing the tread of the roofers over my head we are officially water tight! We are moving into interior territory.......so exciting! There will be some removal of expired materials and some additional planning before any building takes place, but I can now cross one massive line item off the list of things to do. A make shift studio has been added to the list. One off and one on.

wonderings

Wondering what may arise from my boxes of tools besides tools? To hold them in my hands, to become reacquainted, to make new marks and leave old ones behind. The way the handle of each hammer will sit just so in my palm. The leverage from each pair of pliers re-discovered. My saw, oh, my saw.....for this there are no words and I am left wondering a little longer.

hums

I find myself moving words around inside my mouth, vibrations in my brain, as I hear myself speak. I am noticing how my response to my own work is in words, in "hums" as A. A. Milne described for Winnie the Pooh. Notes and hums for myself. Pages covered in words that caught my attention, caused me to stop, pausing to capture them for later digestion and contemplation. Groups of words as drawings and sketches for work to be, with a simple line or curve to indicate the movement of the piece.
